A Family’s Experience of Behavioural Family Therapy (BFT)
Thank you so much to the family who shared this feedback with us. Whether you’re a family member considering the offer of family work, or a professional thinking about training in BFT, we hope their experience inspires you to give it a go!
“I would like to give my heartfelt thanks to our family’s Clinical Specialist from The Meriden Family Programme and to my daughter’s Community Psychiatric Nurse from the Longbridge Community Mental Health Team for the outstanding support, care, and professional dedication they have shown to us.
The therapy and guidance they have provided have been exceptional. Their work has not only supported us through an extremely difficult time but has truly transformed our lives. As a family, we have learned to communicate better, support one another, and move forward with more strength and understanding.
The greatest change has been in my daughter. Thanks to their consistent care, compassion, and specialist knowledge, she is now doing incredibly well—better than we ever expected. She is stable, confident, and finally ready to return to work. This is a huge milestone for her, and it simply would not have been possible without their involvement.
If it were not for these remarkable professionals, my daughter would still be struggling in a very challenging place with her mental health. Their patience, expertise, and belief in her have given her the chance to rebuild her life.
Our family is truly grateful. They are a credit to the NHS, and we cannot thank them enough for the hope and stability they have helped restore in our home.
Thank you”
